Upgrade an Existing SQL Express Version to SQL Server Express 2019

Sentinel Visualizer uses data stored in industry standard, open, Microsoft SQL Server databases. Microsoft SQL Server can be hosted on a dedicated server in your organization or in a cloud host like Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS). You can optionally upgrade a previous version of SQL Express to the latest release.

Windows 10, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019

  • Intel - Compatible processor with a minimum speed of 1 GHz or a faster processor.
• RAM
  • Minimum 512MB
• Hard Disk Space
  • 4.2 GB of Disk Space

Limitation: Microsoft SQL Server Express supports 1 physical processor, 1 GB memory and 10 GB storage.

Instructions

1. If Sentinel Visualizer is opened, exit the program.


2. Download and execute the installation for SQL Express 2019.
   SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe.


3. Select 'Upgrade from previous version of SQL Server'.


4. Wait for the next screen to launch.


5. Select [License Terms], check the box next to 'I accept the license terms and Privacy Statement' and click [Next].


6. Wait for the dialog to complete.


7. Select 'SENT4EXPRESS' as the instance to upgrade and click [Next].


8. Wait for the Upgrade Progress screen to complete.


9. The following message may appear when the installation is complete. If you receive this message restart your computer before using Sentinel Visualizer. Otherwise, you can begin using Sentinel Visualizer.
